Centerville Radon Testing

What is Radon?

Radon is a dangerous cancer-causing chemical. Radon is known to lead to lung cancer in children and adults.

Many houses in the Centerville area have a radon gas concentration above the actionable amount.

Radon seeps out of the silt, not the building. No property, new or old, is exempt from radon contamination.

Each home interfaces with the soil underneath it differently. This is why houses next to others have majorly different radon accumulation.

Radon gas levels will fluctuate every day and with the seasons inside a safe range. A quick radon gas test measures a small time period and is a reliable bellwether of if the home has a radon gas saturation.

Radon gas has a half-life of about half a week. Accordingly, radon gas levels won’t be higher if the home is closed for years, months, or days.

How Does Radon Gas Penetrate a Home?

No home is entirely airtight.

Radon will enter through each penetration in the property such as sump pumps, pipeworks, and even minor flaws in the foundation’s concrete.

The method to know with confidence the accumulation of radon gas in the house is to have a radon test.

Radon Gas Testing Method

Testing a house for radon is a unique procedure when completed alongside a real estate sale.

The radon specialist will install the radon monitors in the house. Radon gas monitors will be installed in crawl spaces and on the first floor. On average a few probes are left in the property for the radon test.

The radon specialist will shut every window and door, close the vent on the chimney, and ensure the heating and cooling system operates in the required manner. Our radon gas specialist will additionally treat every necessary window with anti-tampering tape to ensure that ventilation standards are upheld.

The radon monitors are stored in the property for several days to record the saturation of radon gas in the building. A professional will revisit the structure once the radon measurement is complete to remove the analyzers and generate a report.
