Herriman Radon Testing

What Should I Know About Radon Gas?

Radon is a common cause of cancer. It is proven to cause lung cancer in humans.

38%+ of homes in the Herriman area have a radon gas saturation at or above the actionable level.

Radon comes from the soil, not the home. No property, new or old, is fully encapsulated against radon gas.

Every property interfaces with the topsoil beneath it differently. That is part of the reason why homes next to each other can have significantly different radon saturation.

Radon gas levels will change on different days and monthly inside of a reasonable range. A one-time radon gas measurement measures a small time period and is a good indicator of if the house has a radon gas saturation.

Radon has a half-life of about half of a week. radon gas levels won’t be worse if the house is closed for months, days, or years.

How Does Radon Enter your home?

Houses are not supposed to be totally draft-proof.

Gaseous contaminants can infiltrate through any penetration in the house such as sump pits, plumbing, and minor imperfections in the concrete foundation.

The way to know confidently the saturation of radon gas in the property is to contract a radon test.

Our Radon Testing Procedures

Measuring a property for radon is a special procedure when done alongside a property sale.

A radon gas professional will place the radon detectors on the property. Radon gas analyzers are placed on any level that touches the ground. Normally several devices are left in the property for the radon testing.

The radon specialist will shut all windows, seal the vent on the chimney, and make sure the HVAC system is functioning in the standard manner. The radon gas professional will additionally treat any required window with tamper-proof tape to confirm that closed-home requirements are met.

The radon monitors remain in the building for a few days measuring the levels of radon gas in the structure. An expert will come back to the property after the radon testing is done to remove the monitors and create a report.
