Layton Radon Testing

Why Care About Radon?

Radon is a dangerous carcinogen. Radon gas is known to cause lung cancer in children and adults.

38%+ of properties in the Layton area have a radon gas saturation near or above the DNS action amount.

Radon gas comes from the dirt, not the home. No structure, new or old, is exempt from radon gas contamination.

Every house interacts with the soil beneath it in a different way. That is why homes next to each other can have majorly different radon gas accumulation.

Radon levels will shift every day and seasonally inside of a safe range. A quick radon sample measures a single day or week and is a solid indicator of if the house has a radon gas problem.

Radon gas has a dangerous duration of only a few days. Accordingly, radon saturation will not be any greater if the structure is closed for months, days, or years.

How Does Radon Gas Penetrate a home?

No house is completely sealed.

Vapors may seep in through every ground-facing gap in the house such as drains, plumbing pipes, and minor gaps in the concrete work.

The technique to know confidently the concentration of radon gas in the house is to run a radon test.

Our Radon Testing Procedures

Measuring a home for radon is a unique procedure when offered concurrently with a property transaction.

Our radon gas specialist will install the radon gas analyzers in the dwelling. Radon gas analyzers will be located on any level that touches the ground. Typically a few probes are installed in the property for the radon gas measurement.

Our radon gas specialist will seal windows, seal the damper on the chimney, and make sure the heating and cooling system is operating in the required manner. Your radon gas technician will also mark all required windows with tamper-proof tape to confirm that ventilation conditions are upheld.

The radon apparatus is left in the property for a few days to record the prevalence of radon gas in the structure. An expert will come back to the house once the radon test is finished to recover the monitors and generate a report.
