Salt Lake City Radon Testing

Why Care About Radon Gas?

Radon gas is a dangerous cancer-causing agent. It is well known to cause lung cancer in humans.

Many properties in the Salt Lake City area have a radon gas level above the carcinogenic amount.

Radon comes from the dirt, not the building. No house, new or old, is immune to radon gas intrusion.

Every home interfaces with the topsoil in a different manner. This is why homes next door to others often have radically different radon concentrations.

Radon accumulation will fluctuate every day and monthly inside of a normal range. A short-term radon gas measurement measures a small period and is an accurate indicator of if the house has a radon gas saturation.

Radon gas has a half-life of only a few days. As such, radon levels won’t be any greater if the structure is enclosed for months or years.

How Does Radon Gas Seep into the Property?

No house is sealed.

Radon gas can seep in through each ground-facing gap in the home such as sump drains, utility connections, and even small flaws in the concrete work.

The method to know confidently the saturation of radon in the house is to conduct a radon test.

Radon Testing Procedures

Probing a house for radon is a unique procedure when done concurrently with a real estate transaction.

Our radon gas professional will place the radon probes in the dwelling. Radon gas analyzers will be installed in crawl spaces and on the first floor. For most properties between one and three analyzers are installed in the house for the radon testing.

The radon gas specialist will close every window, shut the flue on the chimney, and ensure the HVAC system is operating in a standard manner. Your radon specialist will additionally treat any indicated window with tamper indication tape to make sure that closed-house standards are upheld.

The radon gas apparatus is stored in the house for a few days measuring the prevalence of radon gas in the home. An expert will come back to the property once the radon testing is completed to return the devices and write a report.
