Silver Summit Radon Testing

What’s Radon Gas?

Radon gas is a common-place carcinogen. It is known to cause lung cancer in people.

A large number of houses in the Silver Summit area have a radon gas concentration at or above the actionable level.

Radon seeps out of the dirt, not the building. No house, new or old, is immune to radon gas.

Each property meshes with the ground underneath it differently. That is part of the reason why homes next to others may have radically different radon gas concentrations.

Radon gas accumulation will rise or fall every day and monthly within a safe range. A one-time radon test measures a single day or week and is an accurate bellwether of whether the house has a radon gas saturation.

Radon has a half-life of only days. That means radon accumulation won’t be higher if the house is enclosed for years, months, or days.

How Does Radon Penetrate a Property?

Surprisingly, homes are not entirely hermetically sealed.

Radon can enter through each ground-facing gap in the home such as drains, utility connections, and invisible imperfections in the foundation.

The way to know confidently the saturation of radon in the structure is to order a radon test.

Radon Testing Method

Inspecting a dwelling for radon gas is a unique procedure when completing a real estate transaction.

Your radon technician will install the radon gas probes in the home. Radon monitors will be placed in crawl spaces and on the first floor. Normally multiple analyzers are located in the home for the radon gas analysis.

Your radon technician will close windows, seal the flue on the chimney, and confirm the air conditioning is functioning in the prescribed manner. The radon specialist will additionally treat any required window with anti-tampering tape to confirm that draft standards are upheld.

The radon gas apparatus stays in the structure for a few days to measure the levels of radon gas in the structure. A specialist will come back to the home after the radon measurement is finished to take the probes and create a report.
